Why
Pilates?
Because strength is more than how much you can lift.
A MOVEMENT PRACTICE
Pilates is designed to build strength, control, mobility and awareness of your body.
Sometimes that means pushing against a heavy spring. Sometimes it means controlling your own body weight. Sometimes the challenge comes from balance, instability, range of motion, tempo or simply moving with more precision.
The goal isn't to become good at Pilates.
The goal is to become better at moving.
WHAT DOES PILATES ACTUALLY DO?
YOUR BODY.
WORKING TOGETHER.

WHY THE EQUIPMENT?
DIFFERENT TOOLS.
SAME SYSTEM.

MAT
Gravity, body weight, leverage and positioning create the resistance. Simple equipment does not mean simple work.

REFORMER
A moving carriage and springs change leverage, resistance and support. Springs can challenge you — or assist you.

SPRING WALL
Springs at different heights and angles let you push, pull, rotate, stabilize and move through resistance.
SO WHICH KIND OF PILATES IS BEST?
ALL OF THEM.
Change the equipment and you change the resistance. Change the resistance and you change the challenge. That's part of what makes Pilates endlessly adaptable.
START WHERE YOU ARE
PILATES IS FOR
ALL PEOPLE.
You don't need to be flexible.
You don't need a strong core.
You don't need to know the terminology.
You don't need to be “good” at exercise.
Come because you want to get stronger. Because you want to move better. Because you love a hard workout. Because you want to stay active as you age. Or simply because moving makes you feel good.
At People's, we teach Pilates as a practice you can build over time.
START WHERE
YOU ARE.
