Train to Teach Pilates—The People’s Way

Our teacher training programs are designed to develop confident, thoughtful instructors who understand not just what to teach, but why.

At People’s Pilates, we take a modern, inclusive approach to Pilates education. Our trainings are grounded in anatomy, movement science, and real-world teaching experience—while creating space for all bodies, identities, and lived experiences.

What Makes This Training Different

The People’s Pilates Blocking System
Our curriculum is built around a structured block system that helps you design clear, effective, and dynamic classes.

Instead of memorizing choreography, you’ll learn how to:

  • Build classes with intention and flow

  • Understand how exercises connect and progress

  • Adapt sessions for different bodies and experience levels

  • Teach with confidence, not guesswork

This system gives you a framework you can rely on—while still allowing room for creativity and personal teaching style.

Inclusive, Client-Centered Teaching

We emphasize teaching that is

  • Body-neutral and non-judgmental

  • Rooted in function, not appearance

  • Adaptable to a wide range of abilities and experiences

You’ll learn how to offer options, use inclusive language, and create spaces where people feel supported and respected.

Anatomy + Application

We’ve partnered with Anatomy of Pilates to provide a comprehensive, accessible anatomy component within our training.

This portion of the program is delivered through guided online modules, allowing you to move through the material at your own pace while building a strong understanding of how the body moves and adapts.

Rather than memorizing terms, you’ll learn how anatomy shows up in practice:

  • How joints and muscles work together in movement

  • How to connect anatomy to cueing and exercise selection

  • How to recognize patterns and support a range of bodies safely

Our goal is to make anatomy practical, relevant, and immediately usable—so you can confidently apply what you’re learning in real teaching scenarios.

Training Structure

Our programs combine:

  • Online learning modules

  • In-person training sessions

  • Practice teaching hours

  • Observation and self-practice

This blended format allows you to absorb the material, apply it in real time, and build confidence as an instructor.

Mat Pilates Training

Our Mat Training lays the foundation for all movement and teaching. You’ll learn:

  • The People’s Pilates block system

  • Foundational exercises and progressions

  • Breath, alignment, and core integration

  • How to build and teach a full class

Reformer Pilates Training

The Reformer Training builds on your mat foundation and expands your teaching skills using the reformer.

You’ll cover:

  • Reformer exercises and programming

  • Spring setting logic and equipment use

  • Cueing, layering, and class flow

  • Modifications and progressions

Prerequisite: Mat Pilates certification required

Certification

Upon completion, you’ll receive a People’s Pilates Instructor Certificate.
Our training is designed to align with industry standards and prepare you to teach in a group class setting with clarity and confidence.
